International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent hosts panel debate on humanitarian challenges
Highlights from the panel discussion on the opening day of the 30th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in Geneva, 26-30 November 2007.

Panel discussion
A group of experts joined the opening day of the International Conference to discuss how to best tackle major humanitarian challenges facing vulnerable communities today. The panellists focused on building partnerships to confront the humanitarian consequences of International migration, violence in urban areas, health and disease and climate change – issues at the heart of this year's conference.

BBC World presenter and special correspondent, Lyse Doucet chaired the discussion. Questions were taken from the audience and a number of Red Cross and Red Crescent national societies contributed from the floor with their experiences and lessons learned from various humanitarian emergencies.
