Women and War: "Points of View"

To mark this year's International Women's Day, we invited ICRC staff in Geneva to reflect on an array of photographs highlighting the theme of Women and War. The photo collection "Points of View" presents a series of 19 pictures taken by a variety of photographers worldwide and accompanied by a selection of personal observations.

Sierra Leone: Mariatu, lives in a camp with other amputees and bravely copes with her disability.

"It's amazing the resilience of people, this young woman can show such tenderness at holding a baby like that under such dire circumstances. It's something that I've always been touched by, the strength of the human spirit, regardless of the adverse circumstances, you always manage to see some sort of spark of that human spirit."
