Norwegian Crown Prince visits ICRC headquarters
Geneva (ICRC): Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway were received by ICRC President Jakob Kellenberger today at ICRC headquarters. The royal couple are on a two-day visit to Geneva to familiarize themselves with the work of humanitarian organizations based in the city.

The briefing session for the royal couple, which was also attended by the secretary-general of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Markku Niskala, and the acting director-general of the ICRC Pierre Krähenbühl, focused on current humanitarian priorities around the world and major operations such as those in Darfur/Chad, where the Norwegian Red Cross is playing a significant role.

The deputy secretary-general of the Norwegian Red Cross, Ole Jorgen Krohn-Nydal, and the permanent representative of Norway in Geneva, Ambassador Sverre Berg Johansen, accompanied the prince and princess on their visit to the ICRC and their tour of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum.
