While no longer the official publication of the ICRC, the Review continues to serve as a vector for information and discussion on law and policy questions relating to the activities of the ICRC. The Review is published four times a year in English. Regional annual editions of the Review contain articles which are translated into Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish.

As of 2006 (Vol. 88, Number 861 with the theme International Criminal Tribunals), the International Review of the Red Cross will be published by Cambridge University Press. The outsourcing of the marketing, production and distribution to such a renowned, high-quality publisher will widen the readership of the Review.

The ICRC will continue to send the journal free of charge to governmental institutions and National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and will continue to publish the yearly selections of the journal in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish. At the same time, the International Review of the Red Cross will continue to be accessible on the ICRC website.

Cambridge University Press from its side will contact other current subscribers and potential individual and institutional subscribers of the Review, inviting them to take up a paid annual subscription. In future all contacts and queries regarding subscriptions will be handled by Cambridge University Press.
