Summary
The Act implements criminal sanctions for violations of the 1972 Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on their Destruction.

Pursuant to Section 5, the Act has extraterritorial effect in that it extends to acts carried out or omitted to be carried out by Australian citizens outside Australia and the external Territories.
