General information
q
Reinforced flexible tarpaulins for temporary
shelter or personal protection.
- For individual shelter purpose, it is recommended to use the 4m x 6m tarpaulins.
- For community shelter purpose, it is recommended to use the 4m x 60m rolls.
- If ready-made tarpaulins are not available they can be cut out of the rolls (10 per roll).
q
The sheet has 6 reinforcing bands to provide
reinforced attachment points. Attachment systems, such as ropes, nails, etc…
should take advantage of the reinforcing bands.
q
Expected life span of 2 years in the strongest
tropical condition.
q
This product was developed in an inter-organisation
research project, and its specifications are more adapted to our use compared
to the usual plastic sheets available on the market (in terms of durability,
waterproof, sheltering capacities, usage versatility, etc…). It is recommended
not to use other types of plastic sheets.
- Procedure for spot quality control on reception is available on request from your HQ logistic unit.
q The rolls are packed individually. The tarpaulins are packed in bales of 10 units.
q Plastic tarpaulins and sheeting are subject to International Purchase Frame Agreements with validated manufacturers. Refer to your HQ before purchasing.
q Attachment point examples (photo next page)
- Here after several typical attachment systems for these tarpaulins or plastic sheeting.
- Try as much as possible to spray the stress on a large surface.
