The launch, co-hosted by Australian Red Cross, included a panel discussion with Nathan Landis (Francis Burt Chambers), Netta Goussac (ICRC Pacific Regional Legal Adviser) and Professor Sarah Percy (University of Western Australia).
Moderated by Leonard Blazeby, head of the ICRC’s Mission in Australia, the panel focused on IHL protections and obligations relevant to businesses, and discussed the range of roles that businesses can play in situations of armed violence and conflict.
Professor Percy, who contributed a paper to this issue of the Review, covered the topic of regulation of private military and security companies.
