Water and habitat engineer

Your task

The ICRC's water and habitat engineers assess the water and housing needs of victims of armed conflict. They plan projects to solve the problems encountered, negotiate with local authorities and firms regarding project implementation, supervise the execution of the projects, and handle all aspects of their administration.

Selection requirements

  • minimum age 25
  • prepared to accept unaccompanied postings during the first 24 months of collaboration
  • recognized degree in public health engineering, civil engineering, sanitary systems or similar areas (hydrogeology, construction, ...)
  • At least three years professional experience after graduation, in chosen field, humanitarian/international field experience an asset
  • excellent command of English (good command of French an asset)
  • familiarity with word-processing and spreadsheet software
  • driving licence (must be valid for manual transmission vehicles)
