Israel and the occupied territory: ICRC supports medics and civilians in Gaza and Israel

23-11-2012 Photo gallery

The recent hostilities have seriously affected the lives of civilians in both Gaza and Israel. This photo diary shows how the ICRC and its partners from the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement (the Palestine Red Crescent Society and the Magen David Adom in Israel) helped those affected.

  • Gaza City. A Palestinian girl stands on the remains of a damaged house. The hostilities left more than 150 Palestinians dead and over 1,000 wounded. Over the same period, five Israelis were killed and some 200 wounded. For eight days, civilians on both sides lived under constant stress and fear. The violence also caused damage to civilian buildings in the Gaza Strip and in Israel.
