In June 2012, inter-communal violence between Muslim and Rakhine communities affected thousands of people of both communities in Rakhine State, western Myanmar. Together with the Myanmar Red Cross Society, the ICRC has been providing basic but vital assistance to the wounded, the sick and the displaced of both communities.
