    • Sierra Leone

A victim of sexual violence reflects on her experiences during the war in Sierra Leone. Women are often held up as the symbolic bearers of their community’s honour. Violating them is therefore intended not only as violence against the women themselves, but also as an act of humiliation, demoralization, and aggression against the whole community.
