Syria: President Assad agrees wider scope for ICRC operations

ICRC president Peter Maurer has just returned from a three-day visit to Syria that included talks with President Assad and members of the Syrian government. Mr Maurer also visited Rural Damascus, to see for himself how civilians were coping with the extreme violence there.
