Libya: further medical supplies for Bani Walid

20-10-2012 Operational Update

On 19 October, ICRC staff went into the town of Bani Walid, for the second time in the last 10 days, to assess the medical situation and bring help to those in need. During the visit, enough items to treat 50 wounded people along with other medical supplies were delivered to Bani Walid hospital and to the Dahra polyclinic.

"We're very concerned", said Ishfaq Muhammad Khan, head of the ICRC delegation in Tripoli. "We urge all parties to act with caution, to respect human life and to spare medical personnel and facilities at all times."

The ICRC is in regular contact with the parties operating in the area. It shares its concerns and discusses issues regarding protection of everyone affected by the violence.
