Jus ad bellum et jus in bello

Le droit international humanitaire, ou jus in bello, réglemente la manière dont la guerre est conduite. À vocation purement humanitaire, cette branche du droit vise à limiter les souffrances causées par la guerre, indépendamment  de considérations ayant trait à la justification, ou aux motifs, ou encore à la prévention de la guerre, couverte par le jus ad bellum.
