Summary:
The Code was amended in 2003 (Law of 5 August 2003) in order to incorporate provisions from the repealed Law of 16 June 1993 on the repression of serious violations of international humanitarian law (Current Title I bis of the Code).

The Code also contains special provisions addressing the issues of hostage-taking, torture, and inhuman and degrading treatment.
