
Bhutan
Between 1865 and 1949, the United Kingdom exercised some measure of control of Bhutan's exernal affairs. This relationship was transferred from the UK to India in 1949. Bhutan became a member of the United Nations on 21 September 1971. The King of Bhutan presented a draft constitution for comment in March 2005. The constitution will enter into force following approval in a national referendum. A version of the draft is available at <http://www.constitution.bt/>.
