Convention on the Rights of the Child, 20 November 1989.
Malaysia
The Government of Malaysia accepts the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child but expresses reservations with respect to article 1, 2, 7, 13, 14, 15, 22, 28, 37, 40 paras 3 and 4, 44 and 45 of the Convention and declares that the said provisions shall be applicable only if they are in conformity with the Constitution, national laws and national policies of the Government of Malaysia.

MODIFICATION OF DECLARATION
The above action was effected on 19 July 2010. The text of the declaration, as modified, reads as follows:
“With respect to article 28 paragraph 1 (a) of the Convention, the Government of Malaysia wishes to declare that with the amendment to the Education Act 1996 in the year 2002, primary education in Malaysia is made compulsory. In addition, the Government of Malaysia provides monetary aids and other forms of assistance to those who are eligible.”

PARTIAL WITHDRAWAL OF RESERVATIONS
The above action was effected on 19 July 2010.
“… , the Government of Malaysia, hereby withdraws its reservations in respect of articles 1, 13 and 15 of the said Convention … :
… , following Malaysia’s withdrawal of its reservations to articles 1, 13 and 15 of the said Convention … , the remaining reservations … made by Malaysia on the Twenty Third Day of March, in the year Nineteen Ninety Nine shall be modified and shall now read as follows:
Reservation:
The Government of Malaysia accepts the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child but expresses reservations with respect to articles 2, 7, 14, 28 paragraph 1 (a) and 37 of the Convention and declares that the said provisions shall be applicable only if they are in conformity with the Constitution, national laws and national policies of the Government of Malaysia.”
