In 2010, the armed conflicts and other situations of violence in which the ICRC operated had in common two main features.The first was the diversity of the situations the ICRC had to deal with. The second key feature was the duration of armed conflicts. The majority of ICRC operations in 2010 took place in countries where the organization had been present for two, three or four decades.
