Asmara/ Addis Ababa (ICRC) - On 11 June, 400 persons were repatriated from Eritrea to Ethiopia under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). This number includes a former prisoner of war who recently requested to be repatriated.

Last Friday, 77 Eritrean civilians returned from Ethiopia to Eritrea under the auspices of the ICRC. Eritrea: Cooking fuel for displaced families
Life at the Debai Sima camp is not easy. Set up in a very hot and dry area near the Red Sea port town of Assab, Eritrea, the camp houses over 200 Afar families. Entire villages previously inhabited by this ethnic group were destroyed during the 1998-2000 war between Eritrea and Ethiopia, forcing the residents to flee.

Eritrea: seed and food distribution in Debub completed
The ICRC has completed its seed and food distributions in the region of Debub, Eritrea. Some 10,000 farming families displaced during the border war with Ethiopia were able to return recently, but were facing difficult conditions. Together, they have received 250 tonnes of cereal seed and almost 640 tonnes of food.
