The UEFA EURO 2008™ ‘Score for the Red Cross’ campaign raised half a million euros which will be used to help mine victims in Afghanistan rebuild their lives.

In 2008, the Empress Shôken Fund will grant nearly 470,000 Swiss francs ($463,000 USD/€295,600) to 11 projects carried out by Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies around the globe. A special emphasis is being placed on African initiatives, which will receive around a third of this year’s grants.

Geneva (ICRC) – The Paul Reuter Prize 2006, awarded for outstanding work in the field of international humanitarian law, has gone to Dr Marten Zwanenburg for his book Accountability of Peace Support Operations.

The Henry Dunant Medal for humanitarian service, the highest distinction of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, was awarded to four people at a ceremony held in Geneva on 30 November 2003.

Geneva (ICRC) – The winner of the 2003 Paul Reuter Prize is Ruth Abril Stoffels, professor of international law and international relations at the law and social sciences faculty of Cardenal Herrera University, Valencia.
