The International Commission for the International Tracing Service (ITS) opened the discussion on the future of the institution today.

Geneva/Warsaw (ICRC) – The president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Jakob Kellenberger, is in Warsaw for talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radoslaw Sikorski, and the Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Defence, Czeslaw Piatas.

Treaty ratified by all member States of International Commission

Washington/Geneva – The International Tracing Service (ITS) yesterday handed over a copy of millions of holocaust-related documents to the US Holocaust Memorial Museum (HMM), which is receiving them on behalf of the United States administration.

Amsterdam/Geneva (International Commission / ICRC) – Rules governing access to files have been adopted for the International Tracing Service (ITS).

Geneva (ICRC) – At its annual meeting in Luxembourg on 16 May the International Commission for the International Tracing Service, which supervises the activities of the International Tracing Service (ITS) in Bad Arolsen, Germany, agreed to measures aimed at opening the ITS archives for the purpose of historical research and at providing its member States with copies of the archives.

Geneva (ICRC) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has appointed Toni Pfanner to the newly created post of special representative for the International Tracing Service (ITS). His role will be to promote the opening of the ITS archives for the purpose of historical research.

Geneva (ICRC) – Spain’s director-general of books, archives and libraries, Rogelio Blanco Martínez, and the deputy director-general of the state archives, José Ramón Cruz Mundet are today visiting the Geneva headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

Geneva (ICRC) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Memoriav will be launching the DVD Humanitarian action and cinema: ICRC films in the 1920s on 20 April, during an evening devoted to the cinema and humanitarian action, as part of the international film festival Visions du Réel (Nyon, Switzerland, 18 - 24 April).
