Liberia – helping people recover from war
Since the end of 2004, many Liberians have begun to return to homes they fled at the height of the fighting. This collection of photos shows how the ICRC is supporting returnees and residents to pick up the pieces of their interrupted lives.

Women waiting for the distribution of assistance in Honeyuan. Since the end of 2004, there has been a return to relative stability in Liberia. Thousands of people who fled the fighting to neighbouring countries or to camps for internally displaced persons are returning to their communities. Often they find their homes destroyed and have few means with which to continue their lives. The ICRC is assisting the most vulnerable returnees and residents with farming tools, rice and vegetable seeds to re-launch their agricultural activities and become self-sufficient.
