Looted and burned police station – With no police, little or no electricity, no sewer, no shops and access to only the most basic health care and schooling, the residents of Cité-Soleil live isolated from the rest of the country. Thanks to the contacts the ICRC nurtured with weapons bearers during the crisis, a few employees of the waste-collection and water services now venture there in periods of calm.
