The return to normality means that people can meet under the baobab tree and discuss the problems caused by armed violence in recent years. Meetings organized by the Red Cross and the Coalition of Women for Peace in Casamance (USOFORAL) are interspersed with dancing and drama presentations, which allow the villagers to recover their customs and to rediscover the traditional values guaranteeing respect for human dignity, including the revered status of women and children, the worthiness of people receiving assistance and the prohibition of acts of vengeance.
