Guinea – Liberia: Child refugees return home
Every week, the ICRC repatriates dozens of children displaced by war in West Africa. These children, who come from Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Côte d'Ivoire, often spend many long years in refugee camps before they can return to their families. In February 2005, Vassily Fadeev and Jean-Yves Clémenzo, two ICRC communication delegates based in Guinea and Liberia, accompanied six of them on their trip back home.

Konah, Cecicilia, Geekor, Davidetta, David and Gorgboyee have had their lives disrupted by war and separation from their families. All six fled their homes during an attack carried out in 2002 against the town of Ganta, in northern Liberia. In the ensuing turmoil, they lost trace of their parents. Today, with the ICRC's help, they are getting ready to leave Guinea, where they found refuge, and return home.
