Hundreds of thousands of Somalis stricken by disastrous floods
Somalis living along the Shabele and Juba rivers, who have already suffered from a dreadful drought and whose very existence is jeopardized by the ongoing armed violence, now have to contend with the worst floods the country has experienced in recent years.

Water treatment and purification equipment is loaded onto an ICRC plane – Since 22 November, from its logistic base in Nairobi, Kenya, the ICRC has supplied waterproof sheeting which will help some 324,000 flood victims to protect themselves from the bad weather. Equipment for the production and distribution of drinking water is also being dispatched, together with mosquito nets, blankets and seed for replanting once the water recedes. About 40 round-trips are planned between Nairobi and Mogadishu.
