Hundreds of thousands of Somalis stricken by disastrous floods
Somalis living along the Shabele and Juba rivers, who have already suffered from a dreadful drought and whose very existence is jeopardized by the ongoing armed violence, now have to contend with the worst floods the country has experienced in recent years.

Children drawing drinking water from a private well which is still functioning in the town of Belet Weyne – Many wells are now inaccessible or contaminated. The lack of an adequate supply of drinking water coupled with the presence of large amounts of polluted water heightens the risks of water-borne diseases such as cholera, diarrhoea and malaria.
