8-06-2006 How can companies support the actions of the ICRC? Both financial and technical support from private enterprises can greatly help the ICRC carry out its activities in favour of war victims. There are several ways firms can support the ICRC. Direct support to the ongoing humanitarian operations Manufacturers of products needed by the ICRC for its work may prefer to donate those items rather than give money. Providing services and/or seconding personnel A company could also choose to assist the ICRC by providing services or personnel free of charge. Seconding personnel to the ICRC allows the organization to benefit from their know-how while at the same time giving the staff on loan additional experience and an opportunity to expand their personal and professional horizons. Contributions to the ICRC endowment fund The endowment fund is managed by the Foundation for the ICRC. By supporting this collateral fund, companies and private individuals help to secure substantial long-term funding for the ICRC. Income from the fund is at the ICRC's disposal for staff training and skills development. Financial support for clearly defined projects Payment of a fixed amount or a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of a specific product or service. This allows a company to involve customers directly in supporting the ICRC. Fundraising |
