Sudan: ICRC continues to expand its activities in Darfur
In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in western Sudan and Chad, where around one million people have been displaced due to the bitter conflict in Darfur, the ICRC has expanded its level of operations. It is also begun to enter areas that were previously inaccessible owing to logistical or security constraints.

As well as providing water and sanitation facilities for the displaced in Darfur, the ICRC is also helping to ensure that the sick and wounded have access to adequate primary health care and medical and surgical treatment, including repairing or refurbishing four key regional hospitals.
