Sudan: ICRC continues to expand its activities in Darfur
In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in western Sudan and Chad, where around one million people have been displaced due to the bitter conflict in Darfur, the ICRC has expanded its level of operations. It is also begun to enter areas that were previously inaccessible owing to logistical or security constraints.

More than 100,000 people have fled to neighbouring Chad, placing strains on that country's ability to cope. Members of Chad's Red Cross Society, alongside members of other humanitarian organisations, are helping to distribute food and material aid to refugees.
