The wounded and sick deserve attention wherever they live, in government or rebel controlled areas. In Colombia, the ICRC's reputation allows it to take its mobile health centres to areas particularly affected by the country's conflict. In 2003, ICRC teams, in collaboration with the Colombian Red Cross, carried out 12,000 medical and almost 3,500 dental consultations. In some cases, the ICRC also accompanies medical personnel from the Colombian health ministry to ensure their safety in dangerous areas.
