Your task
The economic security delegate has several functions:
- developing a comprehensive overview and understanding of the livelihoods, economy, culture, customs, social structure and politics of a context
- in link to the water and sanitation, health and/or detention protection teams instigate and participate actively in assessments; assist in the identification of beneficiaries , assist in the selection of an appropriate intervention system; participate in the formulation of projects proposal
- implementing and monitoring activities according to set objectives and defined plans of actions and promoting the principles of the Red Cross and of international humanitarian law
- as a representative of the ICRC, he/she also maintains contact and negotiates with government authorities – civilian and military – in order to carry out his/her works as effectively as possible
Selection requirements
- ideal age: 25 to 35
- prepared to accept unaccompanied postings for the first two missions (minimum 12 months each)
- excellent command of English and French; additional languages an asset
- university degree in the fields of economics, agronomy, nutrition, development, public health or anthropology
- minimum of 3 years professional experience in one of the above mentioned field
- humanitarian field experience is a must as well as emergency response
- driving licence (for manual transmission vehicles)
- fully conversant with IT tools
