Your task
the mechanic maintains the ICRC vehicle fleet and other logistics assets to the required standards as determined by Geneva headquarter. He/she ensures that all stocks of spare parts and consumables are maintained in good condition and stock controlled in accordance with guidelines.
- maximize fleet efficiency and effectiveness through planned preventative maintenance in accordance with guidelines issued from Geneva or in accordance with manufacturers recommendations
- training of national staff on ICRC procedures
- management, control and supervision of workshop(s) staff
- establishment, operation and control of spare parts inventory in accordance with ICRC guidelines
- establish and maintain an accurate and updated job card based maintenance history for all fleet and other logistics assets repairs
- as required to operate and maintain ICRC standard fleet computer system
- monitoring and controlling of all fuel consumption, including contingency planning
Selection requirements
- ideal age: 25 to 35
- prepared to accept unaccompanied postings for the first two missions (minimum 12 months each)
- excellent command of English; French an asset
- recognize training and a minimum five years proven experience in vehicle maintenance (truck and light vehicle), certification required
- previous field experience with commercial, military or humanitarian organizations
- experience in generator (15Kva upwards) installation and maintenance an asset
- driving licence (for manual transmission vehicles)
- basic knowledge of computers required
