Your task

The ICRC water and habitat engineer assesses the water and housing needs of victims of armed conflict. He/she plans projects to solve the problems encountered, negotiates with local authorities and firms regarding project implementation, supervises the execution of the projects and handles all aspects of their administration.

Selection requirements
  • minimum age 25
  • prepared to accept unaccompanied postings for the first two missions (minimum 12 months each)
  • excellent command of English; French an asset
  • recognized degree in public health engineering, civil engineering, sanitary systems, electro-mecanic engineering, electricity or similar areas (hydrogeology, construction, ...)
  • at least three years postgraduate experience in chosen field, humanitarian/international field experience an asset
  • driving licence (for manual transmission vehicles)
  • fully conversant with IT tools
