India: ICRC helps families and medical authorities identify victims of Mumbai attacks
Mumbai (ICRC) – In the aftermath of the attacks in Mumbai, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is assisting the Indian Red Cross Society in identifying injured victims at local hospitals.

It is also helping bereaved families to identify the dead bodies of their relatives.

"The identification of the victims is a priority for the family members, who at this point need to know as rapidly as possible what happened to their loved ones,” said Dusan Vujasanin, an ICRC delegate currently in Mumbai.

The ICRC is also helping local pathologists to manage dead bodies.

Family members can contact the Indian Red Cross on its help line (022 – 65235830). Photographs of the victims can be sent to ircs_maharashtra@hotmail.com
