Handing over of attestation of detention at ICRC office in Kuwait
The work of the Kuwait regional delegation is linked to unresolved humanitarian concerns left over from the 1990-1991 Gulf War, needs arising from the situation in Iraq and the issue of detainees in both Kuwait and Qatar.

It is also involved in trying to find out what happened to people unaccounted for since 1991. The ICRC enables people in the region to restore contact with family members either interned/detained abroad or otherwise separated by conflict.

The ICRC also focuses on promoting international humanitarian law and explaining its own neutral, humanitarian role. It has reinforced its cooperation with the national Red Crescent societies of the region, particularly in the field of tracing.

Presence (2009): 23 staff, including 3 expatriates
