| Section The ICRC in Morocco and Western Sahara This country is covered by the regional delegation in Tunis Since it opened in 1987, the ICRC's regional delegation in Tunis has been working in Morocco particularly in connection with the Western Sahara conflict. Acting as a neutral intermediary, the ICRC supports initiatives taken by the Moroccan government and the Polisario Front to clarify what has happened to people missing in connection with the conflict. In Morocco the ICRC promotes international humanitarian law, in particular in academic circles and in the schools. It is currently helping the country's armed forces incorporate the provisions of that law in their training. Finally, the organization actively supports the work of Morocco's national committee responsible for advising the authorities on implementing the law and making it better known. In recent years the ICRC has stepped up its cooperation with the Moroccan Red Crescent, notably to promote international humanitarian law. 30-6-2008 The nature of sanctions: the case of Morocco's Equity and Reconciliation CommissionUsing the case of Morocco’s Equity and Reconciliation Commission as an example, this article analyses how transitional justice is by definition the place where ethics and reasons of State, the will to see justice done and the balance of power meet. Therein lie both the strength and ambiguity of transitional justice.
