West Bank: the shrinking world of the Bedouins
Drought, harsh climate and restrictions on movement have a devastating effect on Bedouins. In these photos, pastoralists ponder their future as they struggle to find pasture and water for their sheep. The ICRC provides emergency water supplies to the worst-hit areas.

The Jordan Valley and the eastern parts of Bethlehem and Hebron districts bordering the Daily life is usually tough at this time of year in the village of Al Hadidiya, in the Jordan Valley.

Access to free grazing areas and water is crucial for the livelihood of some 50,000 Bedouins and herders living in the West Bank.

The land to which herders do have access is simply not enough because of overgrazing and frequent droughts. Over the past years, the situation has deteriorated further.
