22-01-2009 News release 17/09 Philippines: ICRC appeals for release of staff one week after their abduction Manila (ICRC) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is calling for the rapid and unconditional release of its three kidnapped staff members in the southern Philippines. Mary Jean Lacaba, Eugenio Vagni and Andreas Notter were seized exactly a week ago by a group of unidentified armed men on the southern Philippine island of Sulu after a visit to the Jolo provincial jail, where they were working on a water and sanitation project to improve living conditions for the detainees.
