Profiles of the six ICRC staff killed in Chechnya


Gunnhild Myklebust, nurse (Norwegian Red Cross).
Date of birth : 31.01.1941 (aged 56).
Worked previously for Norwegian field hospital, Bosnia.
Started mission in Chechnya in November.
 
Fernanda Calado, head nurse (ICRC, Spanish nationality).
Born in 1947 (aged 49).
Many previous ICRC missions.
Started in Chechnya in August and was part of the first team to arrive in Novyi Atagi to set the hospital up.
Ingehjorg Foss, nurse (Norwegian Red Cross). Date of birth : 03.03.1954 (aged 42).
ICRC experience : ward nurse in Pakistan in 1995.
Started mission in Chechnya in December for three months

Johan Joost Elkerbout, construction technician (Dutch Red Cross)
Date of birth : 01.01.1949 (aged 47)
Nancy Malloy, medical administrator (Canadian Red Cross).
Date of birth : 06.10.1945 (aged 51). From Vancouver, Canada.
ICRC experience : three missions starting 1990 in Ethiopia, then Kuwait (1991), Belgrade (1995)
Started in Chechnya in September for six months.
Sheryl Thayer,  nurse (New Zealand Red Cross)
Date of birth : 06.12.1956 (aged 40). From Wellingon, New Zealand.
Started ICRC in 1989 (head nurse in Thailand). Three missions since : Kabul, Thailand again.
Started in Chechnya in November for six months.
