ICRC president visits Germany
Geneva (ICRC) – Jakob Kellenberger, president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), has arrived in Berlin for a one-day visit during which he will hold talks with German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The talks are expected to focus on cooperation between the European Union and the ICRC as Germany holds the EU presidency for six months starting on 1 January 2007. Discussions will also cover the humanitarian situation in some of the ICRC’s main areas of operations and the relevance of international humanitarian law in today's conflicts.

The ICRC president will also be meeting Rudolf Seiters, president of the German Red Cross, which has long been a major ICRC partner, plus other senior personnel of the National Society.
