The Cartagena Summit on a Mine-Free World
Cartagena, Colombia, 29 November - 4 December 2009. Second Review Conference of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on Their Destruction.


The Second Review Conference of the Convention on the Prohibition of Anti-personnel Mines - the Cartagena Summit on a Mine-Free World will be held at the Julio César Turbay Ayala Convention Centre in Cartagena, Colombia, from 30 November to 4 December 2009

Ten years after the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention entered into force, States Parties and international and non-governmental organizations, will renew their commitment to completing clearance of mined areas as soon as possible and to ensuring the rights of disabled mine survivors to live full and dignified lives. They will adopt a Cartagena Action Plan to overcome challenges remaining on the road toward a world without mines.


The First Review Conference - the Nairobi Summit on a Mine Free World - took place in Nairobi, Kenya from 29 November to 3 December 2004.
