18-02-2008 News release 08/30 Pakistan: ICRC staff member released Islamabad/Geneva (ICRC) – An employee of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), seized by an unidentified group two weeks ago near Peshawar in Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province, was freed on 16 February. No ransom was paid. On 2 February, two ICRC staff – both Pakistani nationals – had been on a routine logistical mission in an ICRC-marked vehicle to Torkham, a town in Pakistan on the border with Afghanistan, when they were seized in Khyber Agency, one of Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas. One of the two recovered his freedom a few days ago.
