Internally displaced people: facing up to the challenges
Displacement due to armed conflict uproots people from their normal lives, often inflicting untold suffering on them. A new ICRC report, "Internal displacement in armed conflict” paints a vivid, disturbing picture of this phenomenon. Angela Gussing, ICRC Deputy Director of Operations, discusses the challenges faced by internally displaced people (IDPs).

Children and the ravages of war
To mark the 20th, 50th and 60th anniversaries of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the Geneva Conventions, respectively, the ICRC has issued a new brochure on children and war. ICRC child protection adviser, Kristin Barstad, talks about the plight of children during war and what the organization does to protect and assist them.

ICRC opinion survey in eight countries
As part of the Our world. Your move. campaign the ICRC has carried out different quantitative (statistical) and qualitative (personal interviews and focus groups) research initiatives designed to give a voice to the world's most vulnerable people and raise awareness of the plight of civilians living in situations of armed conflict and violence.
