Summary
On 28 February 2001, the Austrian Parliament adopted a Law on the Establishment of a General Settlement Fund for Victims of National Socialism in order to compensate them for losses and damages resulting or being connected ‘with the events having occurred on the territory of the present-day Republic of Austria during the National Socialist era’ (Article 1). The fund is aimed at compensating both ‘Jews citizens and other victims’ (Article 1(2)). Article 3 provides for the organs in charge of the fund and Article 4 sets the mandate of the Claims Committee. Title 3 deals with the claims procedure.
