ANNEX TO THE CONVENTION : Regulations respecting the laws and customs of war on land #Section III : On military authority over hostile territory - Art. 42.
Art. 42. Territory is considered occupied when it is actually placed under the authority of the hostile army.
The occupation applies only to the territory where such authority is established, and in a position to assert itself.
