Medal to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions , a limited edition commemorative medal, available in silver, has been issued in association with the Intermünzen company based in Bettlach, Switzerland. The medal shows the faces of war victims, a reminder of the reason why so many States have signed the Geneva Conventions . The 50th anniversary has provided the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) with an opportunity to stress that these Conventions are the most important international instruments for the defence of human dignity in war. Inscribed with the slogan " Even wars have limits " , the medal has been put out as part of the ICRC's year-long " People on War " project.
