Photos of ICRC logistics bases in Kuwait and Amman

The ICRC has been building its operational capacities in order to respond to emergency needs in case of a conflict in Iraq. The focus for ICRC assistance activities would be on: supporting Iraqi hospitals to care for war-wounded, ensuring that the water and sewage evacuation systems are running, assisting internally displaced people.

The ICRC has pre-positioned food, non-food and medical stocks in neighbouring countries as well as in Iraq. The logistics means (e.g. trucks, light vehicles, emergency warehouse, radio equipment) to carry out humanitarian activities have been put in place. Logistics bases have been established around Iraq in Jordan (Amman), Kuwait, Iran (Kermanshah & Urumieh) and Syria.
