In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the ICRC has a delegation in Kinshasa and sub-delegations in Bukavu, Goma, Bunia and Lubumbashi.

In 2016, we helped people affected by armed conflict and other violence meet their basic needs. We reunited families, visited detainees, improved people's access to medical care, water and sanitation and promoted international humanitarian law. Many of our activities were carried out in tandem with the Red Cross Society of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Highlights of our work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo:

	140,000 people received food and 87,000 displaced people received essential household items or vouchers to exchange for the essentials.
	140,000 people were supplied with seeds for crops or fingerlings for fish farming.
	330 unaccompanied children – including 179 formerly associated with armed forces or armed groups – were reunited with their families.
	500,000 people were served by the new water pumping station we installed in Goma.
	22,600 detainees were visited (3,000 of whom received monthly food rations)
