ICRC in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea

The ICRC has been present in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) since 2002 in Pyongyang.

The focus of its activities is on physical rehabilitation, health, peri-urban water supply and sanitation, remnant weapon contamination related to the Korean War, emergency preparedness, promotion of the Geneva conventions, international humanitarian law and capacity building of the National Society.

Activities are carried out in cooperation with its primary partner, the DPRK Red Cross Society and relevant government departments.

The ICRC has seven international and eighteen national staff working in DPRK.
